Welcome to the Amway Global's Sales Speak Blog
It's the BIG ONE for OppZone!

Today is February 1. Opportunity Zone is celebrating its first birthday. Sales Speak has been part of Opp Zone for six months. 38 posts ago, I entered into an exciting adventure that proved to be enlightening, inspiring, and educational. OppZone gave birth to a new way of connecting the corporation with IBOs and IBOs to people in the Corp like myself.

For almost 10 years here, I spoke about distributors and IBOs like a crowd of nameless people, busily writiing and editing product copy and catalogs ... IBOs were strangers I hadn't met YET. Then I began to attend IBO events. My world got bigger. Then I began to interview retailers and obtain testimonials for articles. Then I became involved in Learning Lab teleconferences. Then I began to blog and guess what? IBOs began to comment.

Through OPP Zone and Sales Speak, IBOs have become real people with names, families, customers, likes, dislikes, opinions, ideas, feelings, dreams, and suggestions. You've become partners in business and friends in life. There were days when some of us questioned what we were doing, expressed concerns, felt discouraged ... and other IBOs affirmed and confirmed contributions and decisions made. There were days a few comments came in that were perceived as critical or judgmental ... many of you expressed support and admiration for Quixtar Corp and OppZone. Thank you. We're not flawless, but we're committed to positive change and to our IBOs.

Over the last year, I've come to realize OppZone is a community of doers, thinkers, dreamers, believers ... succeeders! I am proud to be a part of Quixtar/Amway Global and proud to to be an employee and an IBO.

So, on this day, as we celebrate our first year of communicating via OppZone blogs, as we celebrate a changing business environment, and we celebrate life with all its freedom and opportunity ... its magic, its mystery, its challenges, its "learning experiences," let me leave you with this ...

Be a torch. Be a spark. Be a candle in the dark.

(Swiped from the beautiful Hallmark card I sent over the holidays. Thank you, Hallmark.)

Happy Birthday, OppZone and to all of those who have become a part of you. May you be an instrument of change and help us make a difference in the lives of many.

Susan,

Thank you for the extra time and effort you spend in keeping the blogs going. I appreciate what you and the company are doing towards the transformation and continually striving to make this business better for everybody!

I especially liked your comment that we are a community of doers, thinkers, dreamer, believers and succeeders!

As you said, some of the comments have been critical or judgmental and I would say, negative. But we are all human and there will always be mistakes made, I think the main thing is that we are all moving forward towards a common goal to build something of siginificance that can give people better lives.

One of the best aspects of this business is we are positive, we are builders, always looking at problems with the attitude that we are overcomers and there will be a solution!

So thanks again for all your hard work!

Thanks, Ben. IBOs like you make it all worthwhile. sjw

About Susan Julien-Willson

I enjoy attending writing/marketing/advertising seminars and conferences for the inspiration and motivation they provide and I also love participating in a monthly writing group and a book club. On weekends, I am frequently found in the poetry/fiction/business/music sections of Schuler Books, my fave local bookstore, or reading magazines and sipping coffee in their café. You can also look for me on weekends at my family cottage in the summer or movie theaters or the mall in the winter. Evenings and weekends, you might spot me out walking when the weather is warm and sunny, or at the Alticor fitness center a few times a week. I love clothes and jewelry as an expression of my personal style. Because I tend to spend most of my time working, working out, or writing poetry, I don?t do the extent of volunteer work I?d like to, but I have a long list of favorite charities I support, including Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Easter Seals, American Cancer Society, Hospice of Michigan, Gilda's Club, and Habitat for Humanity.
