In with the new, out with the old

Yesterday during services, the minister had the young children come up to the front to talk about the meaning of Easter. One little boy said, Easter is about "in with the new, out with the old" and another child close by who was too shy to move to the front murmured to his mother, "oh, that's why it's in spring when things grow." Amazing how kids can say it so simply ... so clearly, so concisely. At the moment, it made me reflect on my own life and the lives of those I love ... and the magic and tragic in my life ... past, present ... and well, who knows what comes tomorrow.

On the way to my dear friend's home for dinner, I thought about work and all the changes ... the transformation of our business into a bolder, bigger, better business. I thought about rebirth and renewal. I thought about the excitement of it and the anxiety and uncertainty of what's ahead. I realized I love change for the thrill and excitement it brings, but also because it calls upon me to believe, to have faith, to go for something with all my might and that's what I am about to do.

I accepted a new position within my department, working on consumer-facing communications. New territory ... new ways of thinking and being. Great timing, given this is the season for "in with the new."

So, do tell, what's new with you?

Congratulations, Susan!  What does "consumer-facing communications" mean?

Susan, what an excellent topic for Easter Monday!!!

Spring is here and flowers are blooming where I live. It feels like a time of fresh, new beginnings. My sister's recurrent *** cancer seems to be going into a temporary remission, and we are grateful for every new day we have with her.

The Transformation of this business seems to be taking hold and while there are a few bumps from time to time, you can't help but be optimistic and delighted with what's happening. :)

And it's a time for personal choices and decisions and then acting on them. More than that I'll save to savour on my own, but thanks for the wonderful topic... so much to be thankful for, including an opportunity that makes it possible to have more control of one's life, and influence others for the good too. :)

Consumer-facing communications will be advertising through various media vehicles to customers of IBOs and potential customers ... stuff you can give to customers to help you sell products, advertising targeted to specific types of customers. I sound vague, but as you know, we're just starting our exploration in the consumer arena. We have a lot to learn yet. Don't worry, there's an IBO-facing Communications Portfolio Manager, too. It's Nick! (True IBO Stories). Nick and I plan to work very closely. We even want our offices next to each other! We both report to Beth (Inside Quixtar) now. Stay tuned!

Hi Susan,

I think this might be my first time commenting on your blog, I just came across it two weeks ago and I kept it open on my desktop for the past two weeks at work reading all the past blogs and comments. I love the insight and the honesty. It's great to hear from the people that make the corporation as awesome as it is, despite critiques, little errors, changes and transformations.

What's new with me? I am at a point in my life where works is regular and I am on track with my business. If I wasn't in this business and I had to answer that question, I would respond with "not much". But, because I am in this incredible business, I can respond with "you know what, life is exciting. Each new day brings news people, new challenges, new rewards" And, the truth is, I am in control of that. If I want something new to happen in my day, I just have to go out and meet someone new and tell them about my business or about my products.

I like this post on out with the old and in with the new. Old can get boring. New means growth, excitement, challenges and success.

It would still be good for a customer to see their IBO/distributor contact info when they sign in to Quixtar.

There is currently no way for them to be reminded every time they log in who that is, or who their back up support person is. An IBO can check out a few of their LOS, but a customer can't even see who the IBO is.

Since Q/A is trying to make sure there are more customers, this would help create some visual tie. It doesn't meet then customers can't call the corporation, but it would be nice for the website to remind as well that they can call their Ibo/distributor.

Great idea, Utah. I'll pass it along. FABULOUS news on your sister, rdknyvr! Thanks for reading and posting, Samanta. Your attitude is so positive! You are an inspiration. All of you are. Thanks for the good wishes, sjw

Susan congrats on the promotion, I look forward to hearing more about it.

@rdknyvr God bless your sister, we'll be praying for her and your family.

New with me is that through the adversities we've had in the last 2 years (and boy when I look back, it sure seems like there were a lot of them) I've grown up a lot.  I had started another business outside of this one doing tech support for home users and small businesses and not only was it never really enough money, it was horribly draining because people only call you because somethings wrong and usually they blamed me :(

With the help of one of my upline mentors (even though he would get no financial benefit from it) he helped me refashion that business into education for home clients and online marketing for businesses and now I'm happy and the money there is starting to come in. Even better are all the cross marketing opportunities with Ribbon, Artistry, Nutrilite and people looking to make more money.

My Amway business is finally growing again and this time faster and more profitably than ever before. Thank you guys for making this transformation happen; I'm so excited that you're helping us ensure that this opportunity will be here for my kids.

Thanks Jeff, much appreciated... she's 39 with 4 young kids :)

Susan,

Piggybacking onto Utah's comment, the IBO contact information should also be on the personal IBO retail websites. Right now, it's very cold and informal for a customer to go there and have no idea how to tie back to the IBO. Personally, whenever I'm referred to a website and there is absolutely no contact information only an email response form-that sets off my radar that this site could be bogus and a potential ripoff/scam. What if one of my clients emailed my website to someone else-how would that person know how to get in touch with me for questions?

By the way, saw the Ribbon videos on the Q website-absolutely stunning!!!

CJ,

I have forwarded your comments on to those who may be able to change the Personal Websites in the future. Good ideas should be shared. Thank you for sharing yours.

Glad you like the videos in the Resource Center at Quixtar.com. For all of you who would like to view the videos, go to Resource Center > Retailing Support > Ribbon > Downloads. There are Mac and PC versions for B2C and B2B. Let us know what you think! sjw

Susan,

Are those videos on Q-Canada?

# Ben said on March 25, 2008 11:03 PM:
Great looking consumer and business videos for the Ribbon program! Are these the same videos that are on the CD? Also, when are the CD's (400857) going to be available to order separately? Thanks Susan!
# Susan Julien-Willson said on March 26, 2008 8:00 AM:

Canadian IBO 2- Will check with Canada on the videos. They were made using U.S. Gift Collections, so I don't expect the identical ones to be posted on the Q-Canada site.

Ben-These are the same videos that will be on the CD. You can order the CD 5-pack on April 1 for just $10. One of the Presentation CDs comes in the AD-1600 Ribbon Essential Sales Kit, too. The videos will also be available for viewing on ordermygift.com

Good to hear you like the videos and use the CD! sjw

# Jeff Namnum said on March 27, 2008 12:48 AM:

You know, I figure I'm finally gonna go to bed, but then I realize 'hey let me check in with Susan's blog' and of course there's a link (sort of) to a preview of the new videos. Oh, well sleep later.

Wow! All I can say is I'm thrilled to see this kind of professionally produced support material.  Thanks, we'll be making money with this!

Jeff,

Thanks for commenting. It's WONDERFUL to hear that you find the new Ribbon videos a valuable sales tool. We hope the new Customer Presentation CD provides the affordable and effective support you need to reach your customers.

To all ... when you share and show the Ribbon videos and the new Presentation CD with customers, PLEASE, PLEASE let us know what your customers think. We welcome feedback, good and bad.

About Susan Julien-Willson

I enjoy attending writing/marketing/advertising seminars and conferences for the inspiration and motivation they provide and I also love participating in a monthly writing group and a book club. On weekends, I am frequently found in the poetry/fiction/business/music sections of Schuler Books, my fave local bookstore, or reading magazines and sipping coffee in their café. You can also look for me on weekends at my family cottage in the summer or movie theaters or the mall in the winter. Evenings and weekends, you might spot me out walking when the weather is warm and sunny, or at the Alticor fitness center a few times a week. I love clothes and jewelry as an expression of my personal style. Because I tend to spend most of my time working, working out, or writing poetry, I don?t do the extent of volunteer work I?d like to, but I have a long list of favorite charities I support, including Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Easter Seals, American Cancer Society, Hospice of Michigan, Gilda's Club, and Habitat for Humanity.
